Meet Our Team

Dan McGuire is the principle of Heartland Energy Consultants and focuses on design services and business development. He has over 20 years experience in construction and project management. Dan graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Education. Dan is an expert in energy and sustainability. He built his career focusing on Energy Compliance for commercial and multifamily construction. Specializing in affordable housing has taken him around the country working and providing green certification services to projects from New Orleans to Duluth. He enjoys working on existing home audits and helping people improve the comfort and energy efficiency of old and new homes.

Dan lives on a small farm in rural Iowa County with his wife and son. He spends his free time fishing the local rivers and camping with friends.

Michael Boerst is a seasoned construction professional with over five years of experience in green building and energy efficiency. Based out of Minneapolis, he manages sustainability consulting for many of our government-funded housing projects pursuing certification. Michael
started his career as a construction manager for a large residential production builder. He our veteran energy modeling specialist. Helping his team and clients navigate the nuances of energy modeling from envelopes to mechanical systems. Michael holds a BAS in Construction Management with an Architecture minor from the University of Minnesota and is certified as a RESNET HERS Rater, PHIUS Rater and Verifier, NGBS Green Verifier, and Green Built Homes. He is passionate about high-performance construction, building science, and energy efficiency. 

In his free time Michael likes to spend time with his two kids and wife, as well as staying busy with home improvement projects.

Austin Marcks is one of our energy consultants based out of the Twin Cities! He is a project manager for our Minnesota and Wisconsin based projects. Austin focuses on helping out with energy modeling, inspections, and testing for various projects around the country. Austin is certified as a RESNET HERS Rater, Energy Star verifier, NGBS Green Verifier, and Green Built Homes verifier.

While he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs, Azul and Daisy. Austin is also an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan!

Will Adcock is a Project Manager for Heartland Energy Consultants’ Commercial Division and is based out of Des Moines, IA. He has 20+ years of experience in the construction industry and 8 years in the
Energy Audit sphere. Will, an energy consultant, is a certified RESNET Field Inspector and Energy Star certified verifier. Will has almost a decade of experience inspecting and testing homes, multi-family, and
commercial buildings. He focuses primarily on Commercial projects providing COMchecks, RESchecks, and whole building blower door testing services.

 

In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, reading and dreams of catching the perfect wave.
